A while ago I asked if anyone had any additional songs to suggest that I could include in the programme for the Singsational Nottingham! event on May 17th.
I’m please to say that I’d already thought of most of the possibilities, but thanks for reminding me about “Goodbyee”, which appeared before 1918 and so would have been known to people alive during WW1.
But there were a couple of tunes that should have been contenders, but actually appeared around the time of WW2. So I (probably….) won’t be using any of the following:
They’ll always be an England – 1939
Kiss me good night Sergeant Major – 1939
I’ve got a lovely bunch of coconuts – 1944
And there were a couple in the original list that, on checking, I discovered were actually from after 1918. Oh dear!
Bye, bye Blackbird – 1926
Roll out the barrel – 1927
